Senator Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has alleged that her international passport is being withheld once again, preventing her from travelling abroad, Very Nigerian reports.

The lawmaker made the revelation during a live broadcast on Facebook on Tuesday morning, expressing frustration over the repeated seizure of her passport without any legal justification.

“Having completed the celebration of my second year, I decided to take a week off, and my passport is being withheld again. The same thing happened,” she said.

Akpoti stated that she had committed no offence and that there was no court order authorising the seizure of her travel documents.

“The last time it happened, the officer in charge told us that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, instructed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from travelling,” the senator alleged.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Senate President nor his office has responded to the allegation.
