Onyeator Almost Cried On Air While Reporting The Death Of Precious
Owolabi, Corper With Channels TV
Many Nigerians have reacted
to the unfortunate death of a member of the National Youth Service Corps
(NYSC) serving with Channels Television, Precious Owolabi during the
Shi'ites - Police clash in Abuja on Monday.
Channels TV announced his death. Read their statement in full:
"A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving with Channels Television, Precious Owolabi, is dead.
The
23-year-old died of a gunshot wound he sustained while covering the
clash between the police and the Shiite protesters on Monday in Abuja.
The
management and staff of Channels Television are greatly saddened by the
untimely and unfortunate death of such a promising journalist.
They pray that God will grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and avail his soul eternal rest."
Other Nigerians have reacted and expressed anger over the death of Precious Owolabi.
Dino Kaysman blamed Channels TV:
"
Channels TV sent a young corper out there to cover violent uprising
without any protective gear and now that young man has been wasted due
to your unprofessional conduct.i will hold channels tv responsible for
the death of Precious Owolabi"
Another Nigerian Twitter user not
commented on how Channels TV newscaster, Ijeoma Onyeator was almost
crying while reporting about the demise of the 23-year-old Precious
Owolabi.
"The way Ijeoma Onyeator of Channels TV was literally
crying tonight on a live broadcast would break down anybody who has a
flowing blood, I cried and felt bad for Precious Owolabi because it
could be you, I or any one. Rest on lad!"
