Oyo 2019: Gov. Ajimobi plotting to impose stooge as successor – Unity Forum warns residents

A breakaway faction within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
in Oyo state christened Unity Forum, on Tuesday warned residents of
the state to beware of Governor Abiola Ajimobi's ploy to deceiving
them into having sympathy for the party with the view to achieving his
goal of imposing a successor during the 2019 gubernatorial election.

The group, while reacting to a statement credited to Ajimobi that the
party was ready to reconcile those who are reconcilable among the
aggrieved members of the party and that some of the aggrieved members
are eager to rejoin the party, described the action of the governor as
"mere grandstanding".

We recalls that Ajimobi, while addressing journalists shortly after a
stakeholders meeting in Ibadan on Monday, insisted that the crisis
within the party is nearing resolution, declaring that most of the
aggrieved members have returned to the party.

But the Unity Forum, while daring Ajimobi to publish the names of
those who have returned to the APC, advised people of the state to
reject APC and all its agents of deceit.

The group, in a statement entitled, "OYO APC Crises: Unity Forum Dares
Ajimobi, enough of grandstanding release the list of members who have
returned to APC" sent to DAILY POST on Tuesday by its secretary, Dr.
Wasiu Olatunbosun, queried the sincerity of the governor's
self-acclaimed reconciliation moves.

It described same as a fluke and an attempt to hoodwink the public
that all is well within the party.

Olatunbosun said, "The statement credited to Governor Ajimobi on
Monday that majority of our members have returned to the party fold
after the crises is mischievous and unbecoming of Governor Ajimobi
status.

"The action of the governor is mere grandstanding, we dared the
governor to publish the names of those that have returned to the APC
fold."

Olatubosun then "queried the sincerity of the governor's self
acclaimed reconciliatory moves as a fluke and an attempt to hoodwink
the public that all is well within the party, or how best could one
describe Governor Ajimobi action now who had earlier described the
Unity forum as inconsequential".

According to him, the Unity Forum remains strong with over 100,000
members across the state.

He said, "Unity forum strongly remains steadfast with over 100,000
members across the state and committed to the political realignment in
the state with the view of wrestling power from APC led autocratic
government in the state where the general public have been subjected
to untold hardship with anti people policies.

"The forum therefore sympathized with the people of the state most
especially, lecturers and students in all the six state owned
institutions for their unpaid 25 months salaries as well as students
of Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) whose school fees was
increased from 80,000 Naira to 300, 000 naira with the view of
preventing children from poor homes to achieve their goal in life.

"We therefore warned the public to beware of Governor Ajimobi antics
of deceiving them so as to have sympathy for the party with the view
of achieving his goal to impose a successor on the people of the state
in 2019.

"We therefore advised the Oyo State people to reject APC and all its
agents of deceit."
