Ekiti Election: Abia stakeholders hail peaceful conduct
Abia State have hailed the peaceful conduct of the Ekiti State
governorship election, which saw the candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode
fayemi emerging as winner.
We reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
on Sunday declared the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi winner.
He garnered 197,459 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, Kolapo Olusola polled 178,114 votes.
Reacting, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC in Abia
State, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa, congratulated the governor-elect,
Kayode Fayemi on his landslide victory at poll.
Ukauwa urged him to see his victory, as a call to service and ensure
the dividends of democracy were brought to the doorsteps of the people
of Ekiti state.
He commended the INEC and the security agencies for their neutrality
in ensuring the Ekiti election was hitch-free.
Dr. Chris Akomas, former Deputy governor of Abia State, and a
chieftain of the APC, also felicitated with Fayemi.
He called on the people of Ekiti state to give their maximum support
to the governor-elect, to enable him take the state to a greater
height.
Also, in his reaction, a two-time speaker of the Abia state House of
Assembly and former member of the Federal House of Representatives,
Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohazuruka, in a statement issued on Monday, hailed
the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
According to the statement, "The just announced result of the victory
of our party, APC, in Ekiti governorship election confirms that
indeed, change has come to Nigeria under the able leadership of our
dear President Muhammadu Buhari.
"I congratulate His excellency, Kayode Fayemi and the entire
leadership of our great party for this victory. The word of the lord
says,"surely they will gather,but since the gathering is not if the
lord it will be in vain.
"No amount of gathering by other political parties will stop Buhari,
APC from comprehensive victory in the 2019 general election."
