The Police in Delta State and a rights group, the Committee for the
Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, are currently trading words over the
killing of a member of the latter.

While the police say he was an armed robber, the CDHR insist he was
unjustly murdered.

God Mission, along Jakpa road in Delta State.

The victim was said to be inside his black Toyota Solara car when the
incident occurred.

The Delta State CDHR Chairman, Comrade Prince Kehinde-Taiga in a chat
with DAILY POST confirmed the report stressing that, "the police
deliberately killed the young man".

Taiga noted that the Police in Ovwian also shot one of his members two
weeks ago, adding that, "three days ago, the police also threatened to
kill our women leader."

Taiga vowed that "the law must have its cause. Whoever that is
involved the act must face the music."

Taiga also called on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad
Mustafa to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure justice was
done.

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP
Andrew Aniamaka said the allegations cannot be true.

He stated that, " the police don't kill human rights activists."

DSP Aniamaka explained that, "We need them in our work. We are in the
best of terms with the people.

"I will find out and get back to you. The police job is saving lives,
protecting properties and ensuring that the rights of the people are
maintained."

DSP Aniamaka later called back to say it was armed robbery case.

According to him, "There were four armed men in a car. Immediately
they saw the police, they opened. In the gun duel, three of the young

was recovered with two live cartridges. "
