Mubi: UN speaks on Adamawa bomb blast

The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has condemned the Tuesday’s suicide attacks in Mubi, Adamawa State, which resulted in scores of casualties.
In a statement by Farhan Haq, the UN Deputy Spokesman, Guterres extended his “condolences to the bereaved families and to the Government and people of Nigeria for the loss of life.”

He wished a speedy recovery to the injured and called for those responsible for these heinous acts to be swiftly brought to justice.
“The Secretary-General reiterates the solidarity of the United Nations with the Government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
“He also renews the commitment of the United Nations to continue to support regional counter-terrorism initiatives,” the statement added.
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday reacted to the incident.

He enjoined the people in the entire North-east to be more vigilant and report suspicious persons to security agencies in order to avert further attacks on soft targets by the terrorist group.
Buhari also directed the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to deploy more police personnel to prevent further attacks by armed bandits in Zamfara State
