Man abandons wife, newborn triplets in Ebonyi hospital
Mrs Nkwegu was recently delivered of triplets, two male and a female, at Maternal and Child Health Clinic, Abakaliki, Ebony State after prolonged labour.
Matron of the health centre, Mrs Elizabeth Odoh, said Ukamaka, who is in her late 20’s, was left at the mercy of the maternity staff and some people who have been caring for her and the babies.
Mrs Nkwegu, overwhelmed by her situation, appealed to the government and other spirited individuals to help care for the babies.
“My husband asked me to go to a Traditional Birth Attendant in our village to go and deliver my baby that he doesn’t have money for hospital and I did that.
“A pastor saw me and took me to this hospital where I delivered my babies successfully”, she narrated.
