Following the emergence of Prince Mathew Kolawole as the 12th speaker
of the Kogi State House of Assembly, the current Secretary to the Kogi
State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade, may soon tender her
resignation letter to the governor in a bid to balance the political
equation of the state.
Sources from the State Government House revealed that efforts are in
top gear for Mrs Ayoade to make this move since she is from the same
zone as the current Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
It was, however, revealed that her possible replacement will be
coming from Lokoja Local Government following the resignation former
Speaker, Umar Ahmed Imam, member representing Lokoja 1.
This move according to sources is championed towards compensating the
people of Lokoja who recently lost the seat of the Speaker.
Recall that the member representing Lokoja 1 in the Kogi State House
of Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam recently resign his position as Speaker
over alleged loggerheads with the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
A similar situation played out in 2016, when Governor Yahaya Bello
assumed office as the 4th democratically elected governor of Kogi State.
We gathered that, the Governor has no option than to support
the call for a change of leadership in the Kogi State House of Assembly
led by Momoh Jimoh Lawal (Pdp Okene 1) as a result of Political
exigency.
This marked the beginning of the crisis that enmeshed the sixth
Assembly In 2016 leading to the formation of G15 and G5 lawmakers.
