In-fighting between executive, legislature causing hunger, suffering – Clergy

Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria, South-east zone, Barr. Sunday Edeh has blamed frequent in-fighting between the presidency and the National Assembly for the current suffering in the country.
Edeh made this known while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki during his official visit to Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Abakaliki.

He stated that the frequent disagreements that always ensue between the present administration led by Muhammadu Buhari has increased the rate of sufferings of Nigerians adding that until they stop fighting, poverty will always be on the increase.
He said: “The problem is that people who are called to serve have much concern in accumulation of wealth to themselves and family members. Those in power are more concerned about their own need rather than the needs of the masses that voted them in power.

“The problem we are having today is the issue of corruption, these politicans who are elected by the people to man the affairs of the country are now looting the treasury and leaving the masses to suffer.

“But thanks be to God that the law are catching up on them. Those who are called to serve should serve selflessly” he noted.
The clergy further called on all politicians in the country to show transparency in all their financial dealings and be accountable to the people that voted them into power, but warned that God almighty will not allow looters of the nation’s treasury to escape.
