FRSC Mobile Court: 63 drivers tried, 90 offences recorded in Plateau

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Pankshin Command in Plateau State on Saturday arrested and tried 63 drivers by its mobile court for various traffic offences.
This was disclosed by the FRSC Pankshin Unit Commander, Nnamdi Akeh-Akabo, in a chat with newsmen in Pankshin.

Akeh-Akabo further disclosed that the corps’ outing of Thursday recorded over 90 offences, ranging from drivers’ licence, over loading to non-use of speed limit device.
“We today made arrest of 63 drivers as a result of over 90 offences, out of which 7 of them were released, while the rest were penalized.
“We were shocked to discover that most of these drivers, especially commercial drivers still carry over load on our high ways despite our repeated public enlightenment campaigns over the years.

“Of course, we had to penalize them to serve as deterrent to others; this is because we desire to see that all the roads in the hinterland are accident free for the safety of lives of innocent commuters, ’’ he stated.
The Unit Commander declared that the mobile court had come to stay in the command and that those drivers who failed to go by the traffic rules and regulations would have themselves to blame.
He, however, urged drivers to ensure that they obtained licence, avoid overloading and obtain speed limit device so as not to fall into the hands of officers and men of the corps.

Akeh-Akabo, while appreciating NURTW for their cooperation with the Corps, appealed to them to prevail on some of their erring members to sit up and avoid breaking traffic rules and regulations.
