Don’t use Anambra election to test your rigging strength – Umeh warns APC
Umeh, who was speaking at the inauguration of Professor Pita Ejiofor’s Annual Frontier Lecture at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said such attempt had been tried in the past but was resisted.
He also appealed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku to advise ad hoc staff, the bulk of which were recruited from his university, to avoid being used by politicians to rig elections.
He said: “Anambra should not be used as a ground for experiment. We have resisted it in the past. We call for credible election where votes will count”.
“So, I call on the university so that those who are selected to work should not rig. I know some who have been used in the past and if I see their names I will protest.
“So, I reminded the VC about the workers who would come from the university for the election and urge that the workers don’t give unearned votes. They should not collaborate in rigging the election”.
On the yet to be conducted Anambra Central Senatorial repeat election, Umeh said he has given up for another time.
This is because according to him, those who lost in that election have made it impossible for a repeat election to be conducted as some who were not even part of the first election suddenly showed interest.
