Borno multiple blasts: Death toll rises as Police Commissioner confirms 19 killed, 23 injured

Borno state Police Commissioner, on Wednesday, visited the scene of the suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, confirming that a total of 19 people were killed while 23 others were injured as at the time of his visit to the area.
The Commissioner said, among those killed were 6 members of the civilian JTF who were attacked at their sand bag, where they were keeping vigil for any intruder at night, adding that, the other suicide bomber headed to a funeral house, killing herself and 11 other persons, while many others were injured.

Speaking to journalists at the scene this afternoon, the Police Commissioner said, two other persons died taking the figure to 19 while 23 are still in critical condition at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Tijjani Umar, a local who also spoke to DAILY POST said, most of the dead at the funeral house were his family members.
