SAME -SEX SCANDAL IN OGUN STATE
A man simply identified as Ridwan A. A., a Nigerian purported to be from ijebu- Igbo in the Ogun State part of Nigeria. Ridwan is a Nigerian young entrepreneur and resident of Ogun State, and was reportedly involved in a SAME -SEX relationship that led to public unrest and disturbance, which attracted the attention of the men of the Nigerian police within the community.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred when Ridwan and his male partner, referred to as Tobi, were found during an intimate encounter at Tobi's residence. Tobi's opposite sex girlfriend raised the alarm upon her discovery of this uncultured act. She was reported to have caught them unaware during the unholy act of man-to-man intimacy, an act contrary to the Nigerian law and offensive to the culture and traditions of the community.
Information reaching us from the area stated that, the community members strongly condemned the act of bisexuality, calling it unacceptable, abomination and contrary to the culture and religious beliefs of the society.
Further information reached our reporter especially from the eye witness, revealed that the situation escalated immediately the two-lovers were caught in the act. As faith would have it, Ridwan managed to escape, leaving Tobi to his faith.
Ridwan reportedly fled immediately out of fear for his safety. It was also gathered that, the local Vigilante members later apprehended his partner, Tobi while he was also attempting to escape. The Vigilante members and the aggrieved Youths reportedly beat Tobi to the stage of coma, before the intervention of the men of Nigerian police and other security agents, who took Tobi into custody after being revived by a nearby Clinic.
A visit by investigating officers to Ridwan's family house yielded no positive results as to the location and the whereabouts of Ridwan, whom the police sought for investigation of the alleged crime of homosexuality, an offence that, if convicted carries a maximum of fourteen (14 years) in prison with hard labour. Community youth were also reported to have visited the family's house of Ridwan.
The whereabouts of Ridwan remains unknown, the police and the community who demanded justice lay siege on the family's house and his business premises.
When contacted by the police, the source confirmed that the case was under investigation and that Tobi might have been involved with several similar offences which the police were investigating, and that Ridwan was needed to confirm some of the reports by members of the public, and that other individuals connected with the crime were being questioned as part of their investigation.
Community members maintained that same- sex relationships are strongly rejected within their area, and warned that the suspect could face serious punishment if apprehended. At the time of filing this report, Ridwan May had relocated from the community due to concerns for his life and safety.
