Kuru, Jos — As the Muslim Ummah across the federation concludes the holy month of Ramadan, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), has issued a compelling call for Nigerians to prioritize national unity and peaceful coexistence.

In a statement released to mark the Eid el-Fitri festivities, Omotayo underscored the importance of a collective commitment to the stability and progress of the country.

He characterized the Eid celebration as a pivotal window for citizens to move beyond mere festivities and engage in profound reflection regarding the foundational values required to sustain a harmonious society.

He maintained that the strength of the nation relies heavily on a shared sense of responsibility among its people, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliations.

Furthermore, the DG highlighted the spiritual milestones achieved during the fasting period, specifically the virtues of sacrifice, discipline, and compassion.

He emphasized that these attributes should not be confined to the month of Ramadan but must instead be integrated into the fabric of everyday Nigerian life.

By translating these ideals into tangible actions, he argued, citizens can effectively foster an environment conducive to peace and long-term development.

Speaking in a statement sent to our correspondent, Omotayo expressed his optimism that the spiritual essence of the season would usher in a period of prosperity and joy for all.

He challenged Nigerians to emerge from the celebrations with a renewed dedication to the arduous but necessary task of nation-building, envisioning a future defined by a stronger and more resilient Nigeria.
