Lagos State To Light Up Rural Communities With Solar Power
Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, confirmed the initiative, highlighting specific areas slated for the installation of solar streetlights:
Adeniyi Balogun Street in Epe Local Government Area
Arowojobe Estate in Mende, Kosofe LGA
New Haven CDA in Sagba Debo, Selewu in Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA
Lase Okunowo Street, off La Yakubu Street in Epe LGA
Agbaje revealed that the Ito Progressive Community in Isiu and Irebami Poromosan Estate have already received 30 solar-powered streetlights, following previous installations in the Ajah area.
The government’s commitment to rural development reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision of enhancing infrastructure and services in underserved areas. This dedication is evident in the recent distribution of four high-powered transformers across the Ikorodu Division. Among the communities benefiting from this initiative are Valley View Estate in Olu-Odo, Oguntade-Oloja community in Odogunyan, as well as two additional communities in Erikorodo and Imota.
As the state government continues to expand its reach, more rural communities can expect to benefit from these transformative infrastructure projects.
