Osun State Police Command on Thursday paraded seven suspects
for varying crimes ranging from murder, defilement of a 3-year-old
girl, and armed robbery across the state.
Parading the suspects
at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo, the Commissoner of Police in the
state, Mr Johnson Kokumo advised people in various communities to always
make information available to the police with the promise that such
information would be treated with strict confidence.
On 14th
February, 2020 at 1:00am, one Babalola Juwon, aged 25years of
Ila-Orangun and two others at large were said to have broken into the
houses of four victims and robbed them of their belongings worth over
#400,000 with the use of dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and
bottles.
“One of the victims Abiodun Yusuf was badly injured on
the head. On 21/02/2020 the gang leader Babalola Juwon was apprehended
by the combined efforts of the police and members of the community at
Ila-Orangun. Exhibits recovered include: five mobile phones,” the CP
said.
A man, Adeyeye Olusesan, aged 29, was accused of defiling a 3 year old girl who has been hospitalised.
“On
18th February, 2020 at 10:00am, the complainant left her daughter aged 3
years(victim) with her man friend named Adeyele Olusesan Male aged 29
years whom she met sometimes in July, 2019 and they have been living
together since. In February, 2020 on arrival from the farm, she
discovered that her daughter(victim) was not cheerful as usual and
having moved closer to where she was helplessly lying down, she noticed
that the victim was bleeding.
“Upon receipt of the complaint,
police swung into action and arrested the suspect who confessed to the
crime during the course of investigation. The victim was taken to
hospital for medical examination and treatment where she is still
receiving treatment as the medical reveals that there was extensive
laceration into the rectum. The suspect will be charged to court after
completion of thorough investigation,” the Police said.
“On 23rd
February, 2020 at 5:00pm, a commercial motorcyclist popularly known as
Okada rider at Bode Osi, Olaoluwa local government area of Osun State
reported that he carried a passenger later identified as one Adeniji
Basiru Azeez male aged 28 years going to Iwo Oke, on their way along the
Bush path, one Nurudeen Azeez male 39 years suddenly came out from the
bush with mask on his face and wooden stick,both attacked and injured
him on the right hand thereby carted away his Bajaj motorcycle. He
immediately raised an alarm and the above two suspects were arrested by
the police through the help of vigilante and commercial motorcyclists.
Exhibits recovered from them are: a keg containing water, a black nylon
used as mask, the Bajaj motorcycle that was snatched and the wooden
stick used in perpetrating the crime. Suspects who had made useful
statement in connection with the crime will be charged to court after
the completion of investigations.
“On 24th February, 2020 at
4:40pm, Operation “PUFF ADDER” patrol team along RCC Ilesa/Akure Express
road, Ile-Ife intercepted and brought two suspects namely: Babatunde
Odunayo male 29 years, Akinola Tosin male 27 years who claimed to be
military personnel to ‘A’ divisional headquarters, ile-ife for the
offence of suspected armed robbery, impersonation and obtaining money by
false pretence.
“On 31/01/2020 at about 9:00am, the complainant
reported at the police station that while operating his POS at
Ajebamidele area,Ile-Ife, two men with their UBA ATM intended to
withdraw #50,000(Fifty thousand naira only) of which the ATM card was
not functioning. The acclaimed Army personnel threatened the victim with
sword and Jack knife when the POS operator refused to hand over the sum
of #50,000 to them for his non receipt of a credit alert in like sum.
“Also,
another complainant was also robbed of #30,000(thirty thousand naira
only) at his POS stand by the same set of gang. Moreso, on 24/02/2020,
the same gang went to Ipetumodu with their usual modus operandi which
eventually led to their arrest by operation “PUFF ADDER” patrol team
along RCC Ilesa/Akure Express road, ile-ife while attempting to extort
another person with the sum of #24,000(twenty-four thousand naira only).
On information of arrest and transfer to SCID, five other victims (POS
OPERATORS) surfaced. Over four hundred thousand naira has been recovered
as exhibits(money extorted POS operators). Other exhibits recovered
from the suspects were: seven airtel sim cards, one face cap, five
different ATM cards, one National ID card, one other ID card. The
suspects will be charged to court after the completion of
investigation.”
The CP also revealed that a 35- year-old man, Idowu Adebare, allegedly beheaded his friend, James Yankume over a disagreement.
“On
25th February, 2020 there was a misunderstanding between the deceased
James Yankume male aged 35 years and Idowu Adejare(male) both from Ikotu
village, Awo. The next day 26th February 2020 at about 6:00am, the said
suspect went to the deceased’s house with cutlass and Dane gun, chased
him and the wife out of the house and eventually inflicted several
machete cuts on his body, beheaded and dumped same inside the forest.
Dedicated efforts from Anti-Homicide Detectives led to the recovery of
the decomposing head few days after the incident. He will soon be
charged to court on conclusion of investigation.”
