Adolf Hilter destroyed democratic system after his election – Prof Anya slams Buhari govt

He spoke in reaction to the continued detention of RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, despite a subsisting court order.
Speaking to Vanguard, Anya compared the Buhari government to the regime of Adolf Hitler, the dreaded late German politician and leader of the Nazi Party, who rose to power in 1933.
He said: “Sowore is not the darling of many people but the issue here goes beyond that. It is not about whether it is right or wrong, but when the institution of justice has pronounced a certain course of action and you ignore it…that is part of the danger I am talking about.
“So, the grave danger one sees now is when you have a government that does not obey court orders, is brazing in the way it handles matters that are regarded as sacrosanct in a plural society, then obviously is only one possibility that the government has made up it’s mind to go the path of either totalitarianism or even fascism.
“I mean we had a report of people going to protest at the DSS office and live ammunition was shot. They claimed nobody was injured or killed but that it should even happen is a sign of danger,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has warned Malami to stop actions and pronouncements that are contempt of court.
Kunle Edun, NBA National Publicity Secretary, in a statement, in reacting to certain comments against judges, declared that the body shall resist any attempt by the political class to subject judges and judicial institutions to public ridicule and opprobrium.
The NBA advised Malami, the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, “not to be seen to encourage disrespect to the courts, by always do the needful in protecting the sanctity and respect for the decisions of courts and judicial officers”.
