Mustapha has been sworn in for the second term as the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation (SGF) at the ongoing swearing ceremony at
Aso Rock, Abuja.
He was first sworn as the SGF on October 30, 2017, by President Muhammadu Buhari after serving as the Managing Director, Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority.
The SGF is a lawyer who started his legal practice in Messrs Onagoruwa & Co in Lagos as a Counsel in 1983.
Mustapha had a stint at an Italian consultancy firm Sotesa Nigeria Limited earlier and in 1994 he established his own law practice firm Messrs Mustapha & Associates and served as its Principal Counsel until 2000.
He was appointed in 2017 after the sack of Babachir David Lawal who was on suspension for misappropriating public funds.
