Senate President Lawan Receives New NNPC GMD, Kyari (Photos)
Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on Tuesday played
host to Mallam Mele Kyari, the new Group Managing Director (GMD) of the
Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC), Igbere TV reports.
Also at the meeting was the immediate past GMD of the NNPC group, Dr. Maikanti Baru.
Igbere TV reports that Baru, who retired from national service following his statutory age of 60, formally handed over to the new GMD, Kyari on Monday, July 8.
He was the 18th GMD of the NNPC until his retirement.
Announcing the visit via a tweet @SPNigeria, the Office of the Senate President, wrote;
“Earlier this evening, the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan received the former Group Managing Director and the new Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru and Mele Kyari respectively, who came visiting.”
Igbere TV reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had on June 20, announced the appointment of Mele Kyari as the new GMD of the NNPC.
