Eagle Lead Development Initiative a
nongovernmental organisation is mobilizing youth across Nigeria for
civic participation named ELDI CIVIC VOLUNTEERS
In a youth Meeting held yesterday 26th of May, 2019 at CASSS ETF LECTURE HALL KADUNA POLYTECHNIC,  KADUNA
Mr.
Peter Ezekiel, the Executive Director enjoin the youth to wake up to
community responsibilities which include engaging in Sanitation,
preaching nonviolence to their peers and leading other youth to live a
life free from crime as it is only by these that Nigeria will experience
the development we all pray for.
In
his words, no country grows without the support of the youth. The
government's efforts will remain futile if the young people are not
ready to support it. He further said Kaduna has experienced so much
crises which the youth has been an instrument. If these same youths are
called together to preach peace and report all incidents that could lead
to such crises the true potentials of the state will be born again.
Rotr.
Sheriff Bashar a speaker at the event also said one of the ways people
can exhibit their potentials in a nation is mostly in community
development activities, hence the youth must take advantage of this
organisation's call as an opportunity for their own self-actualization.
ELDI's
plan is to pull together youths irrespective of the cultural and
religious affiliation, Gender and Diversity and mentor them on the right
path. Through civic participation. Also a key plan is to mould them and
create in them national consciousness. Also, these youth who are more
closer to their peers will be able to talk them out of criminal
behaviours to enable them live in peace with one another.
The
internet fraud activities that is denting Nigeria's image will be
mitigated to it's bearest minimum as the youth present at the
yesterday's meeting has pledged to do all they can to recruit their
friends and family to be part of this youth civic movement.
Based
on the above, we are calling on government, individuals, related
International, Local NGOs and donor institutions to support Eagle Lead
Development Initiative (ELDI) in this project which is extremely
promising.
Our prime
objective is to shrink the pool of applicants of terrorism, violence and
fraud existing in our society through this project.
We
need support in form of material resources and financial grants to
enable us spread this to other states of Nigeria and acquire needed
facilities for our civic engagement.
