Former Minister of Communication, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi, has
led 33 political parties and 20 gubernatorial candidates in Bauchi State
to support the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator
Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir, as part of renewed effort to unseat the
incumbent Bauchi governor, Muhammed Abdullahi Abubakar, during this
Saturday gubernatorial election.
This was the decision reached in Bauchi at a meeting at a hotel in
the state capital, making it the third time political parties and
stakeholders would be meeting with the aim of unseating Governor
Abubakar.
Political parties in the coalition include: United Progressive Party
UPP, Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, Change advocacy Party, CAP, All
Peoples Movement, APM, All Blending Party, ABP, Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, among others.
“The effort was part of the continuation of the struggle to defeat
the Governor and to support one single candidate who has the courage and
wherewithal to defeat Abubakar in the 2019 election, and we urge people
of the state and the stakeholders to support Senator Bala Mohammed,”
Kirfi said.
He stressed that the people of Bauchi have a lot of confidence,
respect for President Muhammadu Buhari and that that was the reason they
gave him their votes, not because they were happy with happenings in
the state, particularly Governor Abubakar’s abysmal failure.
Reacting to the development, however, Abubakar Sufyanu Al-Sadiqque,
the Press Secretary to Governor Muhammed Abubakar, said, “we are not
afraid with the coalition threat”.
He maintained that nothing will stop Abubakar from winning the Saturday governorship election.
