PDP chieftains defect to APC as Buhari, Oshiomhole, Tinubu storm Borno
APC, presidential rally witnessed a high turnout of supporters on
Monday.
At the event, some key figures of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
including former Governor of Borno State, Mohammed Goni, were formerly
received into the APC.
President Muhammadu Buhari led APC leaders to Borno for the rally.
Buhari was earlier received at the airport by Governor Kashim Shettima
in company of former Governors and National Assembly members.
The President drove to the Shehu's palace for homage before his convoy
moved to Ramat square.
APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, co-chairman of the party's
presidential campaign council, Bola Tinubu, the Director General and
Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi among other top chieftains were
in attendance.
After a welcome address by the state APC chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori,
Governor Shettima said Borno was a natural home of Buhari as he had
always won most votes.
The Governor said stakeholders of the party were determined to ensure
Borno falls among states that will give the President the highest
votes in February.
In separate remarks, Bola Tinubu, Adams Oshiomhole and Rotimi Amaechi
commended the crowd in Maiduguri, saying they were upbeat that Buhari
would be re-elected next month.
The event witnessed the symbolic presentation of APC flag to the
party's governorship candidate in Borno, Professor Babagana Umara
Zulum by Oshiomhole.
Speaking, Buhari thanked the people of Borno for turning out in high number.
