Kidnappers have abducted the Demsa Local Government Area Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mijinyawa Hamisu.
The kidnappers who took Mijinyawa away about 3 am Wednesday, have
already contacted the victim’s family to ask for N20 million for his
release, sources told DAILY POST Wednesday afternoon.
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Sajoh, confirmed the development.
The state Public Relations Officer of the APC, Muhammed Abdullahi,
also said he had heard of the incident but did not have the details.
“I have been informed that some people took away the chairman of our
party in Demsa, but we don’t know their motives as to whether it is
political or other things but I’m on my way to the place to confirm the
true state of things,” he said.
The incident is believed to have a political undertone as it happened
hours before a scheduled campaign visit to Demsa LGA by the state
governor, Sen. Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Adamawa State, Othman
Abubakar, confirmed the incident, and said the state Commissioner of
Police, Ibrahim Sabo, had sent men and officials of the police command
to locate the kidnappers and ensure the immediate release of Mijinyawa.
