2019 elections: One dies, four injured in Jigawa PDP rally, as Sen Shitu blasts Buhari

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Jigawa State
yesterday died as a result of motor accident after the party's rally
in Hadejia.

The incident happened when a Golf wagon in which they were travelling
from a PDP rally in Hadejia town to Guri town ran into the bush and
somersaulted few kilometres to their destination.

We gathered that the mammoth gathering of the PDP loyalists had
converged yesterday at Hadejia town to witness the flag-off of the
Jigawa North-East zonal campaign.

Confirming the death to newsmen, the media aide to the Senator
representing Jigawa North-East, Bala Aji Guri said the incident
happened after they successfully finished the rally and were on their
way back to Garbagal village (their hometown) in Guri local government
area.

He said the deceased was already taken to his family, and other
members who sustained injuries were all taken to Hadejia Hospital for
medical attention.

Guri said the deceased was buried around 8:00am in accordance with
Islamic teachings and party officials in the state attended the burial
to sympathise with the family.

The Jigawa North East Senator, Sen Ubali Shitu, leader of the party,
Alhaji Sule Lamido and the PDP gubernatorial candidate have all
condoled with the family of the deceased, he said.

Speaking earlier at the rally, Senator Shitu accused President
Muhammadu Buhari and the APC administration of deceiving Nigerian with
false promises before the 2015 general election.

He stated that there is no single project executed by the federal
government in the whole of Jigawa for the almost four years of the
Buhari administration.

The lawmaker accused President Buhari of imposing hunger, hardship and
disunity among Nigerians.

"Buhari deceived Nigerians before the 2015 election and promised to
elevate the lives of masses but ended off in hiking the price of
foodstuff, petrol, fertiliser, hajj fare, insecurity and disunity
among Nigerians.

"Nigerians before are saying sai Baba but now they are saying No Baba," he said.

Also speaking, a former Jigawa state governor and leader of the PDP,
Alhaji Sule Lamido said Nigerians have tested the PDP and APC
leadership and they will make their judgment and differentiate between
PDP's achievement and APC's deception in the coming 2019 election.
