‘You’re never humiliated, we’ll address your grievances’ – Ondo APC replies Olusola Oke

The Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has
appealed to one of its stalwarts, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, on the need
to reconsider his threat of dumping the party.

The APC, while maintaining that all would be done to avert the planned
defection of Oke from the party; assured that all would be done to
address the grievances raised.

Last week, it was reported that Oke and his loyalists were in
last-minute plot to defect to another party over what he described as
alleged rejection, marginalization as well humiliation his teeming
followers have been subjected to by the APC in the state.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the APC in the
state, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, and obtained by us, the party denied the
claim of rejection and humiliation raised by the former gubernatorial
aspirant and his supporters.

The statement read: "We have read with a sense of disbelief the report
credited to a frontline chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,
APC, in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, and his followers, that
they had suffered humiliation and rejection in the party.

"The State chapter is taken aback by this claim, because Chief Oke, a
notable personality with vast political experience is well respected
by the Governor, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and the State
Secretariat of the APC."

The statement further added that the state governor, Oluwarotimi
Akeredolu as well as the state chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin,
had always been placing Oke in high regards considering his legal
status and his political strength over the years.

"At the level of the party, the State Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, has
always displayed profound respect and appreciation for the political
exploits and professional attainment of Chief Oke.

"Adetimehin believes very strongly that the fortune of APC in Ondo
State would be greatly enhanced with the political experience of Oke
as well as his followers.

Kalejaye said, "This is readily explained by the quick response and
visit to Oke's country home in Okitipupa by the State Working
Committee, led by Adetimehin, to condole with him over the loss of his
elder brother recently."

The statement further noted that the party needed all leaders and
faithful members to work together in order to strengthen it in the
state, and ensure a victory for President Muhammadu Buhari and other
party candidates in the 2019 general elections.

"As a colleague in the legal profession, the governor regards Chief
Oke as a worthy partner in the quest for the political and economic
emancipation of Ondo State.

"It is expedient to state in crystal clear language, that the two
leaders are both eager to see the development of the Sunshine State,
and are mostly in touch, particularly, on matters that border on the
wellbeing of the party and the state.

"At the level of the party, the State Chairman, Engnr. Ade Adetimehin,
has always displayed profound respect and appreciation for the
political exploits and professional attainment of Chief Oke.

"Adetimehin believes very strongly that the fortune of APC in Ondo
State would be greatly enhanced with the political experience of Chief
Oke as well as his followers at the party's disposal.

"This is readily explained by the quick response and visit to Chief
Oke's country home in Okitipupa, by the State Working Committee, led
by Engr. Ade Adetimehin, to encourage him over the loss of his elder
brother recently.

"We want to appeal that Chief Oke and his followers exercise some
patience while the leader of the party in the State and our dear
Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, looks into some of the
issues raised, with a view to addressing them," the statement read.
