Akwa Ibom: How security agencies remind of threat to democracy under Buhari – Fayose
reacted to the recent crisis and invasion of the Akwa Ibom State House
of Assembly by security agents.
We had reported that a combined force of Police, Army and Civil
Defense took over the entire Assembly complex, barring even the House
of Assembly staff from gaining entrance.
The development came hours after a new Police boss was deployed to Akwa Ibom.
Also, there has been confusion in the House after seats of five
members were declared vacant by the Speaker, Onofiok Luke.
Speaking on the development, Fayose, on his Twitter page, condemned
the actions of security agencies in the state.
According to him, the crisis in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly is a
reminder of threat to democracy in Nigeria under the President
Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He wrote: "It appears that Security Agencies under the APC govt of
Buhari have become the greatest threat to democracy in this country.
"What is happening in Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly is another sad
reminder of this threat."
