Akwa Ibom House of Assembly shut down as thugs invade complex [PHOTOS]

Thugs suspected to be hired by the All Progressives Congress sacked
lawmakers in Akwa Ibom, S,tate Idongesit Ituen have besieged the State
House of Assembly in the early hours of Monday.

The thugs who appeared violent were seen in their numbers barricading
the Assembly Complex in Uyo-Akwa Ibom State.

Chanting 'APC, Change' slogan, the thugs stopped lawmakers including
the Speaker, Barr. Onofiok Luke entrance to the complex.

DAILY POST reports that the aggrieved youths were agitating for the
reinstatement of Idongesit Ituen, member representing Itu state
constituency who was sacked by the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo,
Akwa Ibom State.

It was also gathered that on getting to know about today's plenary in
commemoration of the 80th birthday of former governor, Victor Attah by
the State House of Assembly the embattled lawmaker allegedly organized
the thugs to disrupt the session as well as hinder the Speaker from
declaring his seat vacant as scheduled today.

Though the state government has detailed some policemen to calm the
situation, thugs had rendered the area impassable.
