Oyo Assembly summons LG Chair, Abimbola Omiyale over stoppage of lawmakers’ projects
Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Mr. Bimbo Omiyale over
stoppage of rehabilitation of roads, sinking of boreholes embarked
upon by some lawmakers within his area.
This was sequel to a motion moved by Minority Leader of the House,
Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige (ADC), who currently represents Ibadan South
East 1.
DAILY POST recalls that Omiyale, a former Special Assistant to
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state, was elected during the local
government election conducted by the State Independent Electoral
Commission (OYSIEC) in May this year.
Omiyale, an alumnus of The Polytechnic Ibadan, was among the 68 local
government chairmen inaugurated on Monday, 14th May this year by
Ajimobi.
But, the Minority Leader, Ige alleged that Omiyale allegedly stopped
the officials of Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) from
rehabilitating Muslim-Odinjo Road and prevented his colleague, Hon.
Fatai Adesina, who represents Ibadan South East II from sinking a
borehole in the area.
Though, Hon. Safiu Olalere (Ido) in his report said Omiyale attributed
the stoppage of the said rehabilitation works to inadequate funding,
members like Hon. Adesina said Omiyale usually exhibited poor
relations with lawmakers.
Other lawmakers included: Hon. Muideen Olagunju, Oyo East/Oyo West and
Hon. Ganiyu Oseni of Irepo/Olorunsogo claimed Omiyale's attitude
towards the lawmakers needed to be checked, hence he should be invited
to plenary for questioning.
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, subsequently ordered that
Omiyale should be invited to the next sitting of the House on November
3, 2017 to respond to the allegations levied against him by the
lawmakers.
