The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, has approved the
upgrading of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora to
a polytechnic.
Provost of the institution, Professor Gbemiga Adewale, who announced
the approval, said the institution would now run six additional
programmes in addition to the existing ones.
Adewale, in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday
through the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mrs Opeyemi
Olawore in Ibadan, the state capital, commended the NBTE for the
approval.
Adewale said, “Following the approval, the institution can now run
National Diploma programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Business Administration, Statistics, Horticultural
Technology as well as Office Technology and Management”.
He revealed that the new status would further bring infrastructural
and human capital development to the college through accesses to TETFUND
for staff training and infrastructural facilities.
