Lagos APC primaries : Party NWC dissociates itself from ongoing election
Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Lagos
state, has dissociated itself from the ongoing exercise.
The committee has kicked against the option A4 mode used in the
election, expressing preference for secret ballot system, The Cable
reports.
Chairman of the Lagos Governorship Electoral panel, Chief Clement
Ebri, has urged party members to disregard reports and images of
ongoing elections in some wards.
According to him, no state party official has been empowered to
accredit or conduct the Lagos Gubernatorial primaries.
"The primary election hasn't started. We are in a meeting with the
party chairman in Lagos and the agents of the two contenders in the
primary election.
"There are grey areas to be ironed out. We want to organise a free,
fair and transparent primary election and that is why this meeting is
very crucial.
"It is after we have settled the grey areas and address all the
stakeholders' concerns that we will send people out from here to
conduct the primary," Ebri said.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner of the state, is leading
Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, by a landslide in the results
of the election announced so far.
