APC crisis: Why we shut down ruling party’s secretariat – Police
of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state to prevent further
breakdown of law and order.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, David Akinremi, told Punch in
Jalingo, the state capital that the command took the decision
following weekend's violent clash between factional groups of the
ruling party.
He said, "You are aware of the violent clash between the supporters of
El-Suldi who was sworn in Abuja as the State Chairman of the party and
the other faction who called themselves authentic Exco of the party.
"El-Suldi, who was sworn in Abuja, came in last Friday and attempted
to take over the secretariat, and of course there was resistance from
the other faction.
"Hoodlums then hijacked the situation and caused a breach of peace.
So, to avoid a repeat of that, we have to seal the place," he said.
