Party’s national leader defects to PDP

National leader of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA and two-time
gubernatorial candidate of the party in Anambra State, Mr Godwin
Ezeemo, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ezeemo joined PDP Thursday at his country home in Umuchu, Aguata local
government area, where he was received by the PDP state chairman,
Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, and other officials.

The businessman said he decided to hearken to consisted calls on him
by the leadership of the party to join their fold.

He however tasked PDP to accommodate his supporters, who he said will
be moving into the party with him.

Ezeemo said that his involvement in Nigerian politics has revealed
that the electorate believed more in big political parties than the
quality of candidates.

He said, "We are only interested in big names here and not in the
material that is vying for any post. I have tried for a long time to
convince them that coming from a smaller party would even give me
better opportunity to work but they seem not to understand. I had to
oblige them."

The politician expressed hope that PDP has put its house in order, and
that his governorship ambition would be easily realised in the party
than anywhere else.

Earlier, the PDP state chairman, Nwobu recounted what he called the
outstanding qualities of Ezeemo which made the party to woo him over
the years.

He said PDP would provide Ezeemo a better chance in his genuine effort
to improve his society through politics.

"In PDP, it is not how long you have spent with us but the capacity
you wield as a party man or woman that counts and Ezeemo is a man of
great capacity," he stated.

The party chairman stated that Ezeemo was a big catch for the party,
and that the PDP would communicate to its national leadership, and
subsequently organize a befitting welcome rally for him.
