2019: Why youths should be granted waiver – Senatorial aspirant writes Secondus

A senatorial aspirant from Enugu State, Mr. Chinedu Eya has asked the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to issue nomination forms free of
charge to youths.

He is seeking the party's ticket for the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

In a letter to the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche
Secondus, he said the only way the recently signed 'Not Too Young to
Run Bill' will be efficient was for the youths to be granted such
waiver.

Eya told the PDP chairman that he is "a core member of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) and National Convener/Coordinator of 'Why it
must be PDP in 2019' (WIMBPDP2019), a pressure group with a wide
membership across the 36 states of the federation, agitating for the
return of the PDP in 2019 since losing to the then opposition, APC in
2015.

"My organization 'Why it must be PDP' has since its existence in 2015,
carried out a lot of activities championing our party's course,
defending it from the ruling party's tyranny and politics of vendetta,
through aggressive press statements, repelling rallies, workshops and
general sensitization on why it must be PDP.

"At the state level of our party, Mr. Chairman, I am the statewide
initiator of 'No Vacancy in the Lion Building, Gburugburu till 2023'.

"This is a group at the state level of our party, agitating for the
retention of the PDP and His Excellency my Governor and father of
Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

"Mr. Chairman, my plea and request to be granted waiver in the
purchase of the Party's senatorial form above is unconnected to my
sacrifices to the party as enunciated above.

"It is about the entire youths who are members of our great party. I
would want this hand of fellowship extended to other youths aspiring
to give our Party a new and vibrant representation, so as to send a
signal we stand with the not-too-young-to-run initiative, toasted like
a new bride across the nation."

He added that "the significance of this gesture, if accepted and
implemented by the Party, will be unimaginable as people are already
waiting impatiently for such to be introduced for the Nigerian youths.

"Recall that in the past, different state chapters of our great party,
such as Kaduna, Plateau and so many others had at one time or the
other launched the above support for the women contestants in the
party.

"I am personally of the opinion that beginning with me and other
interested aspirants, the youths will feel accommodated."
