2019: Junaid Mohammed speaks on call for Tinubu to dump APC

Junaid Mohammed, Second Republic lawmaker, on Tuesday declared that
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu can decide for himself whether to dump his party for the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He stated this while reacting to a recent call by PDP presidential
aspirant and former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido that Tinubu
should dump the ruling party.

Lamido had at an event in Abuja, said Tinubu can "only recover and
reintegrate himself as a Democrat" if he leaves the APC.

He had said, "Tell Asiwaju that his brother and friend says he is in a
wrong party. He will only recover and reintegrate himself as a
Democrat if he leaves the APC.

''Asiwaju has only integrated six months ago. They were using his
governors and ministers from south-west to fight him! We know all
these, he should leave APC for them.''

Speaking with us, Mohammed however doubted the possibility of the
former Lagos governor defecting from the APC.

While faulting Lamido's call, he said the presidential aspirant was
not in the right position to decide if Tinubu was being sidelined in
the APC.

According to Mohammed, "Sule Lamido was speaking for himself, I have
never played personal politics and I believe that Tinubu is smart
enough and has enough political knowledge to decide for himself if
there is room for him in the APC or not. As far as I'm concerned, it's
an affair for Tinubu and APC to decide.

"I can't see why anybody can say when he is not a member of the party
and the government. I think my friend Sule Lamido may just be trying
to play mischief because I don't know what he tends to gain.

"If Tinubu was to change party from APC to PDP, I don't think he is
the kind of person who will support Lamido's ambition. They are two
totally different personalities both of them are my friends."
