2019 election: SDP issues quit notice to Okorocha, vows to end his reign in Imo
Progressives Congress-led administration in Imo State vowing to unseat
the governing party, in the coming 2019 general elections.
The party claimed that Governor Rochas Okorocha-led government had
impoverished the people of the state through its alleged draconian and
anti-people's policies.
This is contained in a statement issued by the publicity secretary of
SDP in Imo state, Chilos Godsent and forwarded to DAILY POST on
Wednesday morning.
The statement quoted SDP as saying,"consequent upon the increasing
economic hardship and political rascality perpetrated by the APC
government against the good people of Imo State through its deliberate
policy of economic impoverishment of the people of the state, the
Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Imo State has vowed to expel the
sadistic APC government of Imo State through electoral defeat in 2019.
"SDP condemn in strong terms the present economic hardship ravaging
the state. We discovered that sixty per cent of the average residence
of Imo State now lives below three hundred Naira (N300.00) per day.
"The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Imo State, therefore, promises
to restore sanity in governance and reinstate the economic fortunes of
the state where Imo State will be the economic hub of South-East
Nigeria if elected to power in 2019.
The statement also stated that the leadership of the party (SDP),
constituted a team in the 305 electoral wards in Imo State to shop for
credible aspirants and members before the end of this year.
"The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Imo State has constituted high
powered Door-to-Door Campaign and Recruitment Team in all the three
hundred and five electoral wards in Imo State with the target to
recruit over two million members with electoral values before the end
of December 2018.
The statement called on the well-meaning imolites to join in the
movement to liberate the state from the shackles of 'sadistic cabals'
that had held Imo in captivity.
"We call on the people of Imo State to massively join the Social
Democratic Party (SDP) as the only option to Liberate the state from
the shackles of sadistic cabals that has held the state in economic
and political captivity since 1999."
