Ekiti guber: Attack on Fayose shows desperation of APC – SDP aspirant
Gboyega Ayenimo, has condemned the alleged attack on Governor Ayo
Fayose of Ekiti state by anti-riot Policemen.
The politician, in a statement made available to journalists in
Ado-Ekiti, said the attack clearly shows that the ruling All
Progressives Congress (APC) was desperate.
The statement reads, "This unwholesome development on July 11 led to
the victimatization and intimidation of our people in Ekiti State as
evident in the physical assault on the sitting governor Ayodele Fayose
at the Olusola Kolapo campaign pavilion on Fajuyi park, Ado Ekiti.
"It is not just about Fayose but about Ekiti people, it is an obvious
evidence that the APC wants to capture the state by all means. I have
never witnessed such an uncivilised way by APC in preparing for
election anywhere in the world. It is very barbaric and unacceptable,
has never happened anywhere and we have to work against it.
"It shows that the Buhari government is bent on carrying out vengeance
on the sitting governor in Ekiti because Fayose has been a major
opposition voice against the APC government. Buhari is trying to carry
out a political clandestine against the sitting governor.
"This is not about the election itself, it is about the kind of people
APC are. I have always said that APC is callous and desperate to grab
power. They don't mind what ever evil happens to the people so far
they get power.
"Is this the kind of change they promised us? If people have
accused/former President Goodluck Jonathan of impunity, and want that
to stop, is this how such would be stopped? The impunity has even
grown worse. It is unprecedented.
"The APC can attempt to intimidate us but they can't stop us. Victory
for PDP is certain and the hand writing is written on the wall. Ekiti
people don't want APC and that will be confirmed on Saturday when our
people will come out en mass and vote massively against the APC.
"They don't want a kind of government that will be intimidating the
people and oppressing them.
"The only power we have is our voting right and we will exercise it on
Saturday against the APC. We will prove to them that the power of the
people is greater than that of those in power.
"I also wish to state that the MOU signed by several political parties
including the SDP is a welcome development, we all know what has been
happening in Ekiti and Nigeria. We know that since Buhari came into
power, Nigerians have not witnessed any progress, what we have been
getting in APC administration has been killings of innocent people in
different parts of the country. Buhari got into power through media
propaganda and deception of the people. But Nigerians are now awake
and wise, they now know that Buhari has no cerebral to provide the
solution to solve Nigeria's problems which are multi dimensional. In
economy, we are backward. No security of lives and property and no
jobs. The killing going on everywhere is appalling.
"About the Fulani herdsmen, they are doing their personal businesses
like every other individuals selling rice or beans and what have you?
what is the concern of the Federal Government in proposing cattle
ranches for Fulani herdsmen in parts of the country, that shows a
selfish agenda to, may be, Islamize Nigeria. The Fulani herdsmen have
cultures that are strange to people from other parts of the country,
many of them are violent and can harass our the women and others in
parts where the FG wants to impose cattle ranches. This is
unacceptable.
"This is why it is a welcome development that the main political
parties are now merging to chase APC out of power in 2019."
