Oyo government shuts Bodija market after police, butchers clash

The Oyo State government Thursday afternoon shut down Bodija market
after a reported clash between butchers and security agents.

This was contained in a statement sent to DAILY POST by the
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun.

Arulogun informed that the market was shut "for security reasons".

He added that, "This is an aftermath of the sporadic shooting which
occurred earlier today in the market and its environs. "

Arulogun who quoted Chairman, Aare Laatosa Loca Council Development
Area (LCDA) Mr. Adekunle Oladeji, said "The closure is to prevent loss
of lives and property of the citizenry. It is also to guard against
the escalation of the violence in the market to other parts of the
state.

"Security agencies have been intimated about the situation in the
market to maintain law and order.

"The people are advised to be law abiding as anyone found wanting will
be made to face the full wrath of the law. "
