Aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in
Oyo State under the umbrella of Unity Forum on Monday declared that they
have approached the court of law to challenge the inauguration of Chief
Akin Oke as the state chairman of the party.
It was learnt that Akin Oke was on Monday inaugurated into office by
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, national chairman of the party in Abuja.
But secretary of the group, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, in a statement
obtained by DAILY POST, said that the forum have no other option but to
reject the purported inauguration by taking their grievances to the the
court to challenge the swearing-in.
Olatunbosun said, “We wish to state our rejection of the swearing-in
of Chief Oke. In the wee hours of yesterday (Sunday), the men of
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had gone to town claiming that a top official in
the Presidency from the South West had instructed the national
leadership of the party to change its report on the congresses in Oyo
State and swear in Chief Oke as the Chairman.
“We assure our teeming members and supporters that this act of
injustice and ungodliness by men that were supposedly men of God will
not stand.
“We have approached the courts to adjudicate on the matter. We
restate our contention that the supporters of Governor Ajimobi did not
pay for nor collected nomination forms for the ward congress of the
party.”
The Unity Forum maintained that, “Everything built on the ward congress that never took place cannot stand.”
