Osun Kidnapping : No demand of ransom yet – Bishop

The Methodist Bishop of Osogbo diocese, Rt. Revd. Amos Ogunrinde has said that there has not been any demand for ransom from the kidnappers that took a pastor of the church and two other church members away Sunday night.

Ogunrinde, in a telephone interview with DAILY POST on Monday said the church had reached out to all the security agencies in the state to swing into action and rescue the brethren.
He added that the state government has also been intimated of the development through the Deputy Governor, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-tomori.

The cleric, however, expressed optimism on the quick return of his members from the den of the kidnappers.
“We are fervently praying for their quick return, at least, that is the first thing, we have also contacted the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and other security agencies who have swung to action to free them.
“At present, nobody has reached out to us for ransom, we are believing in God for their safe return “, he said.

We reports that a pastor of the Methodist Church, Very Rev Kayode Akande, and two other church members were kidnapped Sunday night, at a town called Telemu, along Iwo-Osogbo road, in Osun State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The pastor, alongside seven other members were said to be returning from a meeting at Ile Ogbo, another town within the axis when the incident happened.
A cleric in the church, while confirming the incident said two church leaders who were taken away with the pastor were one Mr. Bankole, who is an engineer and Mr, Omodunbi.

According to him,”They were returning to Osogbo from Ile Ogbo when suspected Fulani herdsmen abducted them. They went for a meeting in respect of Father’s Day and they were on their way back to Osogbo when the incident happened.”
