Nigeria vs Argentina: Reactions trail video of Ezenwa asking Messi for his shirt after Super Eagles’ loss

Super Eagles' second-choice goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has come
under attack after a video of him appeared online asking Barcelona
star, Lionel Messi to give him his shirt after Nigeria's 2-1 defeat to
Argentina in the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday night.

Messi had opened scoring in the game, before Victor Moses equalized in
the second half from the spot.

Marcos Rojo fired home a late winner with six minutes left.

The Enyimba International of Aba shot-stopper, who has won 24 caps for
Nigeria but did not feature at all in Russia, with Francis Uzoho
manning the posts for the three games was caught on camera collecting
Messi's shirt.

However, Nigerians have condemned Ezenwa's action, while others were
of the opinion that Messi was his role model.

Here are the comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:

@Chris: "I think that's all u went to Russia to do. That's y while
others were crying u were busy eye- monitoring Messi. I hope u will
present it to buhari as the trophy your team promised him."

@Candor: "But there is nothing wrong with that. We all have mentors
and role models in our various professions. whom we get resource
materials,advice,and guidiance from."

@Mykel: "Useless goalkeeper, that's why I never supported u to be
number 1.had it been Messi lost that match, would he give u d
jersey?."

@Anonymous: "Disgraceful, uncultured, typical lowlife embarrassing
Igbo behaviour, to ask of the shirt off another person's body, greed,
and he will use it to boast and show off to others. If you see nothing
wrong with this, you are poorly raised. I really dont expect different
from a local lowliife like you. Game recognise game and youre just too
stupid to understand."

@Uche: "Haters!!!! at Mykel and Chris, like you wouldn't do the
same…That's a world superstar(Messi)".

@Victor: "@chris and mykel, why the hate? If messi came to Nigeria, do
you know how many supporters will struggle to get his autograph?
Either we won that game or not, exchange of jerseys would have still
happened. Its just pure sportsmanship."

@Idowu: "dey there ezenwa for collecting world best player jersey."

@Ayo: "Me think ezenwa attitude shows he is always after personal
glory .do u know that fifa president visited Nig dressing room at some
point in Russia and guess what he ezenwa was the only player who
suddenly put up his phone for a personal selfie with the distinguish
visitor to the embarrassment of nnf president who almost push him
away. Don't get me wrong iits good to be bold but boldness as a limit
especially wen your team seems to be in mourning mood U don't go about
doing otherwise else pple will think u don't care about what was going
on at that time ,and for me that is a show of lack of patriotism.
Think about this:if Argentina had lost that game would they have time
to be exchanging jersey with any of our players? The answer is noooo.
Ezenwa has further shown that blacks don't have common sense as we
don't feel for ourselves even in time of defeat of such magnitude .
Sebi is happy we lost and narrowing it down uzoho as failed and ezenwa
is happy ? No problem .whatever u do to others some will do it to u
too. What ezenwa did was bad timing by him and is shameful to say the
least.
