LG Poll: PDP Wins 23 Chairmanship Seats In Rivers

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has won the local
government elections conducted across the 23 local government areas
of the state.
The Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice
Chukwunenye Uriri (retd.), who declared the results of the election on
Sunday night, explained that the exercise was free, fair and devoid of
violence.
The All Progressives Congress boycotted the election, saying that it
decided to obey court orders concerning the exercise that was
conducted on Saturday.
Speaking in a telephone interview with our correspondent, the winner of
the council election in Ikwerre Local Government, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike,
expressed gratitude to the people of the area for expressing their
confidence in him through their votes.
Nwanosike, who got 78,662 votes, pointed out that he would fulfil all his
campaign promises to the people of Ikwerre Local Government Area.
