More Nigerians React To World Cup 30-Man Provisional Squad
‘Unquestionable’, ‘promising’ – More Nigerians react to world cup list (Read Comments)

It seems the last has not been heard about the list of 30 players released by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the 2018 FIFA world cup scheduled for Russia in June. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had on Monday released Coach Gernot Rohr’s 30-man provisional squad for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

Amaraizu, who is NLO’s Director in-charge of the South-East, said that Rohr and his technical team must have taken pains and time to study the list over and over again. “It is the best we have and we are bringing to the table for now,’’ he added.
One striking feauture of the Eagles list is the presence of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in the list. The NPFL contingent is led by Enyimba first choice goalie Ikechuwu Ezenwa, CHAN 2018 and former U-17 champion Dele Ajiboye, and NPFL top striker Junior Lokosa.

Junior Lokosa is on course to break the NPFL scorer’s chart as he has bagged 18 goals for Kano Pillars. On sunday he scored a brace as Kano Pillars thumped Katsina United 3-1 in a North-Western derby. Amaraizu said the number of NPFL players showed that the Nigerian leagues had grown.
“I must commend Coach Rohr and his technical team for blending quality NPFL players into the team in the provisional list. “It clearly shows that the Nigerian league is growing and producing quality players capable of shouldering international responsibility for the country,’’ he added.
Promising
Former Green Eagles Goalkeeper, Emmanuel Okala said he personally saw the provisional list as a good list “with lots of hope in it’’. He noted that Rohr had taken the bull by the horn by ensuring that dedicated and strong legs were marshalled out to represent Nigeria at the World finals in Russia.

“He (Rohr) is in charge and I know he always do the best for the country. “I have no reservation that the list is a good one and provisionally the best for the country for now,’’ he said. Okala, who is the longest goalkeeper for Nigeria, however, said that he was happy for the new entrants into the squad – Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo.
He said that he had known Simeon Nwankwo for some years now, even from the time he played in Nnaka League in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra. “I was overwhelmed with joy when I heard that Nwankwo, made the list.
“I have known him years back even in our local Nnaka League to be a great player that will go places. “Today, that forecast I made about the lad then is manifesting. He is simply a great player. “I pray he joins other great and wonderful players in the team to make Nigerians proud,’’ he added.
Ground work
Samuel Ikpea, chairman Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) described the 30 man provisional list of the Super Eagles released as a good ground work ahead of 2018 FIFA world cup. “I must commend Rohr on the list; it is a sign of his plan to take the nation far in the world forthcoming world cup.
“In spite of our qualification and awareness of our participation in the forthcoming world cup in Russia, fans have been eager to know calibre of players that will make the team. “So with this development, the consciousness is now on the air and I am sure that people are watching and expecting the coach to select the best for the competition,” he said.
