Former Premier League player, Jlloyd Samuel dies in car crash

Former Aston Villa and Bolton defender, Jlloyd Samuel, has died in a car accident at the age of 37.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of our former player Jlloyd Samuel at the age of just 37 in a car accident.
“Our players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect tonight and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very difficult time,” Aston Villa tweeted on Tuesday.

Samuel was born in San Fernando in the south-west of Trinidad, but moved to England as a youngster and represented London Schoolboys teams.
He played youth football for Charlton and joined Villa in August 1998, made his senior debut the following year and went on to make 199 appearances over nine years.
He moved to Bolton in 2007, playing 83 games over four years, before a brief loan spell at Cardiff.

Samuel also played for England at U-18, U-20 and U-21 levels and was called up for the senior squad by Sven-Goran Eriksson.
