The North-central zonal youths forum of the ruling All Progressive
Congress (APC) has asked Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO),
Moshood Jimoh, to apologize for calling Benue State Governor, Samuel
Ortom, "a drowning man."
The youths also said he should be sacked if he failed to tender a
public apology in one week.
A statement issued by the APC North-central zonal youth leader, Terver
Aginde, on Thursday urged President Muhammadu Buhari re-organise
security agencies in the country.
"The youths of North-central would be pushed to the wall if the
killings in the North-central states is not stopped. No individual has
monopoly of violence.
"President Buhari should wake up and do what he promised Nigerians
that he was going to do for Nigerians when he was campaigning for our
votes.
"We cannot believe that under President Buhari's government that we
know of discipline, honesty and integrity, will allow an unprofesional
officer like the FPRO and the Inspector General of Police to be
disgracing and tarnishing the image of the government.
"On behalf of the youth of the North Central states of Nigeria, we
demand that the FPRO should be sacked and asked to apologise to the
governor of Benue state, for calling him a drowning man within seven
days.
"The governor of Benue State swore to protect lives and property when
he was taking oath of office, likewise the president, why play
sentiments and politics with the herdsmen crises?
"We don't want to believe that the IG and his co-conspirators are not
making fortunes out of the crises just like what happened during the
Boko Haram insurgent under President Goodluck Jonathan. We say no to
cattle colony in the North-central."
