The national caucus and the National Executive Committee meeting of
the All Progressives Congress, APC, will hold on February 26 and 27,
2018 respectively.
The party's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdulllahi,
confirmed this development to newsmen in Abuja, on Thursday.
Abdulahi, who was responding to a question on the preparations for the
party's much-awaited National Convention, said, "Our national caucus
meeting will hold on the 26th and the National Executive Committee
meeting will hold on the 27th of this month (February)."
The party has been unable to hold the mandatory bi-annual non-elective
convention since 2014, this is in violation of certain sections of its
2014 Constitution (As amended).
Specifically, Article 25 (A)(i) of the APC Constitution stipulates
that the National Convention of the party shall be held once in two
years at a date, venue and time to be recommended by the National
Working Committee and approved by the National Executive Committee
subject to the giving of the statutory notices to the Independent
National Electoral Commission and at least 14 days notice given to
members eligible to attend
Since the last convention of the party held in October 2014, the party
has been unable to hold one after several failed attempts.
