Present your best for appointments – Akeredolu tells Idanre indigenes
Akeredolu made this know during a meeting with indigenes of Idanre Local Government Area under the umbrella of Idanre Focus Group, who had earlier issued him a 7-day ultimatum to address imbalances in appointments in the state.
Coordinator and Secretary of Idanre Focus Group, Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun and Mr. Dele Ogunyimika respectively in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday noted that after exhaustive deliberations between the governor and the indigenes, the governor had promised to address the imbalance before the end of 2018.
The duo of Akinmoladun and Ogunyimika said “Gentlemen of The Press, You will recall that this Forum, Idanre Focus issued a press statement whereby a 7- day ultimatum was given to the State Government to address, recompense, redress and restitute the glaring lopsideness, lacking in balance and symmetric in the distribution of political and career appointments made by the present administration in the state so far.
“Before the expiration of the ultimatum, the State Government through her representatives in the Protocol department invited us to a round table meeting where the position of both parties were canvassed.
“No Idanre indigene was appointed as one of the 10 Special Advisers to the Governor.
“No Idanre indigine was appointed as one of the 33 Permanent Secretaries newly appointed despite the fact that we have 6 (six) Grade Level 16 officers in the state civil service.
“Idanre is short-changed in the uneven distribution of projects as recently advertised by the State Universal Basic Education Board which the board is to execute (as published in the Dailies). It is on note that Idanre got just 15 projects out of 551 projects to be executed in primary schools across the 18 LGAs in the state while the likes of Ifedore, Ondo East and others got more than 20 projects.
“Responding, The Government said Idanre presented 2 career civil servants whom were Grade Levels 14 and 15 respectively for consideration as Permanent Secretaries.
“After thorough screening and scrutiny by the relevant processes /bodies by the Government, it was discovered that while other LGAs presented Grade Level 16 and above as their nominees, Idanre could only present lesser cadres.
“The Government pointed it out that the position of Permanent Secretary is exclusively reserved for officers on Grade Level 16 and above. Idanre only presented grade level 14 and 15 despite having more than 5 grade level 16 in the service.
“On the seeming lopsideness in the distribution of projects as advertised by SUBEB, the Government posited that the board acted on the numbers of projects submitted by SUBEB in Idanre LGA.”
The duo noted that the governor has, however, assured the indigenes as follows:
“That the government would give some political appointments to Idanre before the end of the first quarter of 2018.
“The State Government shall consider at least one qualified career officer of Idanre extraction as permanent secretary before the end of 2018. Bearing on mind that some Permanent Secretary would be retiring from the service from early 2018 which will create vacuum in respective MDAs.
“The State Government enjoined Idanre to present their best when the opportunity avail”.
