BEING THE TEXT OF PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE LEADERSHIP OF NANS THIS DAY 8TH DECEMBER, 2017.

STATE OF THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC AUCHI, EDO STATE, OUR POSITION.

Protocol

With the greatest humility, I welcome you all to this press conference aimed at expressing the position of our leadership on the state of the great Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.

It remain pertinent for my office to convey the position of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to concerned authorities and the general public particularly haven been misinformed earlier to lead the immediate past President of the Student Union Government, Comrade Samson Okoduwa to Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja to agitate for non existing issues which we have come to find out were all motivated by enemies of the Polytechnic who misguided the Student Union with financial inducement to revolt against the present Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi led by Dr. (Tpl.) Momodu Sanusi Momodu.

The misfeelings that followed the protest informed the leadership of NANS to carryout an independent fact finding by visiting the Polytechnic to ascertain the true state of issues in the Polytechnic.

As we all know, we don't need a century to effect a change, all we need is effective preparation to provoke an unusual transformation!

During our said visit, we had intetactions with various stakeholders amongst which are the Polytechnic community, the Student Union Parliament, the teaching and non-teaching staff, the general student Populace, etc. Our findings, amongst others reveal the following:

1.      That obviously, the Abuja protest led by the immediate past SUG President (Comrade Samson Okoduwa) was sponsored by some enemies of the Polytechnic

2.      That the immediate past president of the Student Union Govetnment of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi (Comrade Samson Okoduwa) acted in isolation and for obvious selfish reasons and far from the collective resolution and interest of the Executive and SRC of the SUG of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi.

3.      That none of the allegations stated during the said protest is substantiated as they were all found NOT to be true.

4.      That the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic (Dr. Tpl. Momodu Sanusi Jimah) has not only stabilized the Polytechnic in all fronts, but is also tremendously reviving the decayed standard of education; teaching and learning in the Institution.

5.      That the longetivity of the Rector (Dr. Tpl. Momodu Sanusi Jimah) in an Acting capacity has given rise to the political tension in the Polytechnic which the Federal Government must end NOW.

6.      That the performance of the Acting Rector (Dr. Tpl. Momodu Sanusi Jimah) and his Management team is satisfactory in all ramifications and as such, the Federal Government of Nigeria is enjoined to, as a matter of urgency, confirm the appointment of Dr. (Tpl.) Momodu Sanusi Jimah as the substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi moreso that he is among the three shortlisted successful candidates in the just concluded Rectorship Interview of the Polytechnic.

7.      That in the spirit of 100% patriotism to President Muhammadu Buhari Anti-Corruption Agenda, the apex students body (NANS) hereby pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the present Management of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi led by Dr. (Tpl.) Momodu Sanusi Jimah for his giant stride in fighting corruption inside the as a former SUG PRESIDENT and Alumnus who has contributed greatly to the growth of the institution as a student leader, lecturer and now Acting Rector of the same institution.

Until change is complete we shall continue to inform and motivate....... We will never rest.
