Biafra: Okorocha, Akeredolu, others mourn Ekwueme
Okorocha said this while paying his tribute to the late former Vice President.
Okorocha said until his death, Ekwueme remained relevant in Nigerian politics because of his firm belief in the oneness of the nation.
According to the governor, Ekwueme’s peaceful and honest dispositions both in politics, public and private life were all worthy of emulation.
“The only regret about Ekwueme at the moment is that he died at a time his wealth of experience and wise advice will have been most needed and useful to Nigerians of goodwill.
Similarly, former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and a National Chairmanship aspirant, Prince Uche Secondus has described the death of Ekwueme as a huge loss to the PDP and Nigeria.
Secondus said by his loss, Nigeria and the PDP have lost a dependable resource person whose invaluable contributions to the sociopolitical development of the country remains unequaled.
In a statement, Secondus said, “As one of the outstanding founding fathers of our great party, the PDP, his exit now remains very painful as he would have been a utility person in the rebuilding process of our party.
Secondus noted that Ekewueme’s legacy would outlive him as the history of PDP and indeed Nigeria would not be written without his contributions.
Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on his part said the death of the former Vice President is an irreparable loss to the country.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, the governor said Nigeria has lost one of its brightest and ebullient democrats.
Akeredolu expressed sadness at the fact that Ekwueme died at a time when the ideals and social justice he used his energy and intellectual prowess to fight for have yet to be achieved.
The governor said the young generation will surely miss Ekwueme who stood for the uprightness and unity of the country.
“It is my wish that politicians and Nigerians in general emulate the selflessness and patriotism of this great Nigerian. He will forever be remembered by all, ” the statement reads.
