Kogi Govt.debunks killer vaccine rumour
According to a statement issued to DAILY POST on Tuesday by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Audu Haruna, the government described the information as baseless and unfounded, adding that, it was similar to the rumour that gripped states such as Abia, Enugu and Imo State a few days back.
“The only parts of Kogi State where we have an ongoing vaccination exercise is in Yagba west which will soon be extended to two contiguous wards in Yagba East LGA.”
The Vaccination according to Dr Haruna actually kick-off on 14th October 2017, and will last for ten days.
“You will recall that 2 cases of yellow fever were detected in Yagba west LGA which prompted this reactive vaccination.
“Vaccines are meant to prevent child killer diseases and as such we will continue to carry out routine immunization and immunization plus days” Dr Haruna explained.
