Real Madrid vs Real Betis: La Liga champions suffer shock defeat, now seven points behind Barcelona
Zinedine Zidane had Cristiano Ronaldo available for the first time in the league, after he sat out their first five fixtures for pushing a referee in the Super Cup clash against Barcelona.
They grew in confidence towards the end of the match and were rewarded, when Antonio Sanabria headed home to secure the three points. It is their first win at the Bernabeu since 1998.
The defeat also saw Madrid’s 73-match scoring streak come to an end.
Zidane’s men have now dropped seven points from their opening three home matches of the season and are already seven points behind leaders Barcelona.
